This is a normal lunchtime in the exclusive precincts of the Delhi Golf Club, built by the British in 1931. Membership has been closed for some while.
The championship golf course is landscaped around exquisite 15-16thth century sandstone Muslim tombs and summerhouses, built by the invaders from Afghanistan and further North. Its welcome green is a wild-life haven with peacocks and monkeys dodging little white balls.
Alfresco street food – Chinese, Tandoori, “Continental”, Delhi alley- is cooked in the open air and enjoyed by members and their guests.

The outdoor swimming pool is being resurfaced. Floating on one’s back, this graceful Lodhi pavilion comes into your vision.

Read above. I thought, also, I was being quite subtle and my intelligent readers would scan between the lines.

One day, 200 years from now, someone will stumble over an everest of plastic fauteils and wonder what exact manner of lunatics we were- psychos, schizos, paranoids or just stupidos.
